About The Position

L3Harris AUV Systems is seeking a Senior Specialist, Integration/Test Engineer to support integration and testing of advanced Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) systems and related subsea platforms. This role ensures electrical, mechanical, and software compatibility across complex systems and provides technical leadership during field operations and customer engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Graduate Degree and 4+ years, OR
  • In lieu of degree, 10+ years of prior related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with software communication and networking protocols.
  • Physically able to work on swaying vessel decks, in confined spaces, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated seamanship skills (knot tying, line handling, deck safety).
  • Active SECRET clearance preferred.
  • Ability to travel (US and International) approximately: 60%.

Nice To Haves

  • US Navy technical background or defense contractor experience.
  • Experience with navigation systems (DVL, IMU, GPS) and undersea sensors (sonar, acoustic comms).
  • IPC-610/620/J-STD soldering or cabling certifications.
  • Comfort operating from a variety of vessels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integration plans for hardware, software, and facilities.
  • Perform system-level testing and ensure seamless interface between design and production.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues across sensors, subsystems, and interfaces.
  • Act as a subject matter expert during acceptance testing, demonstrations, and field exercises.
  • Provide hands-on training and technical support to customers.
  • Contribute to technical manuals, SOPs, and customer knowledge bases.
  • Support deck operations, including launch and recovery from RHIBs and naval vessels.
  • Participate in extended field exercises (up to 6 weeks).
  • Interface with engineering and program management teams to ensure successful integration and delivery.
  • Conduct test readiness reviews and lead test working groups.
  • Perform mechanical assembly/disassembly of AUV modules and verify seal integrity.
  • Validate mission planning and operational behaviors.
  • Provide remote technical assistance outside normal business hours.
  • Have basic mechanical assembly skills and familiarity with software/networking protocols.
  • Are adaptable and thrive in dynamic environments, including field operations from naval vessels and RHIBs.
  • Possess experience with AUV systems, subsea platforms, or marine robotics.
