About The Position

Staples is focused on our customers and community. As a Sr Specialist- Planogram you will design and develop merchandising presentations and create planograms for product categories that incorporate the most current merchandise presentation standards and company financial objectives. This role reflects the Product Manager’s input and strategy for the category and supports an easy shopping experience for the customer.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of Retail merchandising or planogram experience.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when modifying planograms for smaller footages.
  • Ability to provide guidance during collaborative development of fixtures and signage to meet presentation standards.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong merchandise planning and quantitative analysis skills.
  • Strong professional communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with applications such as Spaceman, Pegman, or MarketMax (or the aptitude to learn and work with Spaceman).
  • Significant project management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams through the Product Transition process to introduce new products and categories while cost-effectively exiting obsolete products to minimize mark-downs, labor, and implementation costs.
  • Create planogram versions to accommodate varying store assortments and physical store size differences.
  • Create merchandising layouts that reflect the current merchant strategy to drive shelf-edge retail sales.
  • Partner with merchant, inventory, loss prevention, and field teams to ensure category presentations improve sales, minimize inventory costs, prohibit shrink, and inspire customer engagement.
  • Develop new methodologies and display approaches for new stores and categories (urban flagship stores, omni verticals, BO$$ categories).
  • Create financial models of profit and turns for each set created or modified and provide financial performance reports to develop condensed category assortments for smaller stores.
  • Document planograms using PC-based space management software to maximize sales and minimize inventory investment.
  • Utilize historical sales information and ship pack quantity to determine product facings and maximize space and operating efficiency.
  • Leverage vendor data, competitive reviews, and industry trends to drive innovation and category focus.
  • Prepare weekly merchandise communication materials via the web for field operations implementation and offer support regarding planogram implementation inquiries.
  • Partner with Store Planning to ensure each store is assigned to the correct planogram category assortments for accurate replenishment and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with Fixtures & Equipment, Signing, and Loss Prevention on the development and design of fixtures, security devices, and in-store displays.
  • Create updated fixture lists to ensure accurate fixture orders for new stores.
  • Develop minimum presentation inventory levels for each category planogram version.
  • Maintain the integrity of assigned planogrammed merchandise categories, ensuring the Planogram database is current with the most updated files.
  • Support the maintenance of the Prototype/Planogram Lab and the process of imaging merchandise used in planogram versions.
