Location: Foster City, CA We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Studio Engineer to join our dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the future of our autonomous vehicle design. As a Senior Studio Engineer you will be responsible for collaborating with our design and engineering teams to transform creative concepts into functional designs and production-ready vehicles. You will be an integral part of the design process, ensuring that our vehicles not only look stunning but also meet the highest standards of safety, performance and functionality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive design and engineering, with a strong focus on prototype and advanced engineering development.
  • Proficiency in Catia/3DX CAD software and automotive industry CAD creation best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with automotive safety standards and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Leadership experience and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual Development: Support the development of conceptual vehicle designs, working closely with designers and digital modelers to bring design concepts to life.
  • Engineering Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate conceptual design technical input into vehicle design constraints.
  • Production Analysis: Evaluate design concepts for feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability, providing recommendations for optimization.
  • Safety Compliance: Work with cross-functional homologation, policy and safety teams to ensure that conceptual vehicle designs meet all regulatory, safety and homologation requirements.
  • Documentation: Maintain 3D CAD, engineering drawings and documentation related to prototype development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in automotive design and engineering to drive innovation and improve processes.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to other engineers and cross-functional partners to drive an innovative mindset to support vehicle design development.
