About The Position

Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world — designed with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve individual households, schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. Software and hardware changes introduce complexity, requiring coordinated cut-in planning, effectivity control, and production impact assessment across the full vehicle build flow — from Contract Manufacturer through our Factory up to Launch Operations. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities This TPM will be a core member of Kuiper Production's New Product Change Operations, owning the Engineering Change Implementation process end-to-end. This complex value stream governs how engineering changes — spanning both software and hardware — are reviewed, and implemented across Kuiper's satellite manufacturing and test operations. The role requires a demonstrated ability to drive industrial and manufacturing readiness, ensuring that engineering changes are introduced into production in a controlled, scalable, and operationally sustainable manner. The role interfaces with procurement, finance, GSE, production, warehouse, flight design, and launch operations, and is based in Redmond, WA. The scale and complexity of engineering change management demands coordinated activities across both daily urgent activities and long-term strategic initiatives. As an adept of "working yourself out of a job," this TPM will lead the critical process and tool improvements required to protect production stability while enabling rapid innovation cycles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 6+ years of technical product management, program management or engineering experience
  • 3+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Fluency in either software change management or hardware change management with working knowledge of the other domain
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across all engineering disciplines
  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of technical program management experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration or a related field
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
  • Knowledge of lean techniques and Six Sigma tools
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Fluency in both software and hardware change management domains
  • Experience working in the aerospace, semiconductor, automative, consumer electronic or aviation industry
  • 2+ years managing the development of mechanical hardware, developing software for automation, or developing electrical/embedded systems
  • Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing execution systems (MES), and product lifecycle management (PLM) software

Responsibilities

  • Hold single-threaded ownership of the Engineering Change Control program, managing both software and hardware change streams across Kuiper manufacturing and test operations
  • Manage the Engineering Change Implementation Board and Software Production Implementation mechanisms, ensuring structured intake, risk classification, and approval of all changes
  • Maintain the single source of truth for the change schedule, developed collaboratively with stakeholders across production, test, quality, and operations
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for production-impacting changes, coordinating rapid response to quality gaps and engineering-driven stoppages
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives targeting automation of change intake, validation, and deployment workflows
  • Conduct post-release reviews to capture lessons learned and feed improvements back into the process
  • Lead cross-functional impact assessments for changes being cut-in, reworked, or phased into production — evaluating effects on first-pass yield (FPY), cycle time, test throughput, and downstream operations
  • Drive cut-in planning for hardware block changes, managing effectivity dates, WIP disposition, and rework scope across the production floor
  • Partner with engineering (design, test, manufacturing, quality) to negotiate change requirements and represent the voice of production in design reviews
  • Define and track key performance indicators: software-related production disruptions, change cycle time, first-pass yield for software deployments, and change velocity

Benefits

  • health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage)
  • 401(k) matching
  • paid time off
  • parental leave
