Requirements

  • Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated success in fund raising, writing grants, and/or grants administration required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work in diverse environments and collaborate with individuals of different backgrounds required
  • Demonstrated commitment to the value of access to higher education and the impact it has on individuals, families and communities required

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory Experience preferred
  • Experience with curricular design and assessment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops strategies, programs, workshops, research projects and other interventions to increase the opportunities for low-income, first-generation college and underrepresented minority students to succeed.
  • Collaborates with leadership, staff and administration to develop, seek funding for, implement, and evaluate opportunities to increase student success.
  • Works closely with leadership to develop and lead the implementation of programs/workshops that reach students in the Rochester community.
  • Serves as thought partner on implementing diversity curricula.
  • Serves as a college advisor and counselor providing academic, financial, personal, social and career counseling and advising support for students.
  • Monitors and evaluates academic progress and develops strategies for enhancing academic performance, assesses special needs of students and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Coordinates academic support programs, including setting up and planning meetings and recruiting and hiring of instructors, undergraduate and graduate student staff.
  • Finalizes program schedule and classes.
  • Supervises student staff.
  • Oversees special scholarship programs.
  • Manages tutorial services, including individual tutoring, group tutoring, and various area of study-specific tutoring programs.
  • Maintains confidential student records and submits evaluative data for State and Institutional reports.
  • Maintains the office database and other data systems and trains the counseling and support staff on the usage.
  • Assists Director in advancing strategic planning efforts of the department.
  • Coordinates and monitors practices that promote retention and graduation of students.
  • May supervise counselors and student assistants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
