The Impact You’ll Make in this Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with experience in the theme park, hospitality, or entertainment industry. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of GAAP accounting standards, with a focus on accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and customer payment cycles. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, supporting revenue operations, and reconciling customer accounts for ticketing, events, concessions, and memberships. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years’ accounting experience, preferably in entertainment, hospitality, or theme park environments.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, especially revenue recognition and AR reconciliation (ASC 606).
  • Experience with accounting software, preferably Sage
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) integration and guest services platforms.
  • Familiarity with deferred revenue, loyalty programs, group sales, and ticketing packages.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and reconcile accounts receivable (AR) transactions including invoices, deposits, deferred revenue, and chargebacks in accordance with GAAP (ASC 606).
  • Work closely with operations teams (ticketing, food & beverage, events) to monitor customer balances and ensure accurate daily revenue uploads.
  • Maintain and reconcile AR subledger to the general ledger, ensuring proper cutoff and revenue recognition by performance obligation.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closings, journal entries, and reconciliations related to AR and revenue accounts.
  • Prepare aging reports, customer statements, and collections analysis; escalate delinquent accounts as needed.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required schedules and documentation.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations to ensure POS and booking systems accurately feed accounting records.
  • Assist with process improvements and internal control documentation across AR and cash cycle.
  • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relations with fellow employees.
  • Constantly exhibit a guest service attitude, a smile, and an obvious interest in guest comfort and service
  • Communicate with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assist guests with questions and directions to various areas of the Zoo. Address the guest - do not wait to be asked.
  • Remove trash and debris from public areas; i.e. pick up litter whenever you see it.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
