About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for an accountant looking to apply their skills and knowledge in a fast-paced, growing organization. The Staff Accountant will assist in preparing documentation to support government reporting requirements, perform account reconciliations, and maintain accurate records for capital purchases and project accounting.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
OR a mix of 5+ years of directly related experience in Staff Accounting and education as a substitution for a related Bachelor’s degree.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general comfort with financial systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

Compile and organize financial data to support periodic government reporting requirements.
Prepare and maintain schedules and reconciliations for various general ledger accounts.
Track and record capital purchases and ensure compliance with capitalization policies.
Assist with tracking and reporting on project-related financial activity, including cost accumulation and budget vs. actuals.
Support internal and external audit processes by gathering documentation and responding to inquiries.
Perform data entry, analysis, and validation to ensure accuracy in financial records.
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities as assigned.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate data exchange.
Maintain and update documentation for accounting procedures and controls.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
