About The Position

Chronicle Heritage is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to support project work in the Baltimore, Maryland area. The role will assist the Field Director and Project Team in completing archaeological pedestrian surveys, monitoring, testing. site delineation and recording in Baltimore. Preference will be given to local candidates. Per diem will be provided for out-of-town stays. Lodging will either be camping or hotel, depending on their location. Hire Type: Full-time (hourly) Hiring: 5- 10 experienced Field Techs Location: On-site – camping/hotel Schedule: Survey - Wednesday to Wednesday, with 6 days off in between rotations, 40 hours, possible Overtime; Monitoring – Sunday to Saturday, two-week rotations with non-deployment Sundays off, possible Overtime Shift: Survey - 10-hour days; Monitoring – 10-12-hour days

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field
Successful completion of an archaeology field school or have demonstrated equivalent experience
4 months or more of experience conducting survey fieldwork
Frequent out-of-town travel, potentially for extended periods of time
Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

Experience performing pedestrian surveys, excavating/recording shovel test units, and recording archaeological sites
Knowledge of local material culture - Indigenous and Euro-American history and prehistory
Experience with car camping and backpacking
Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, a positive work ethic, reliability, and commitment to working both independently and in a team environment
Previous experience with mapping equipment and other special application equipment (GPS, tablets, etc.)
Strong communication and organization skills
