About The Position

The Attorney at AAON will provide legal counsel and support across a broad range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and mitigates legal risks while supporting business operations and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal departments, external counsel, and regulatory bodies to protect the company’s interests and facilitate informed decision-making. The Attorney will serve as a key legal advisor to AAON’s leadership and operational teams, offering guidance on contracts, compliance, employment law, intellectual property, and corporate governance. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying legal risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them. The Attorney will also manage litigation, oversee regulatory filings, and support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.

Requirements

  • Requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Oklahoma or ability to obtain licensure promptly, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with legal issues specific to manufacturing and HVAC industries.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High ethical standards and sound judgment in decision-making, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including vendor, customer, and licensing agreements.
  • Provide legal advice on employment matters, including hiring practices, terminations, and workplace policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including OSHA, EPA, and other HVAC industry regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate external counsel on litigation and specialized legal matters.
  • Support intellectual property protection, including trademarks, patents, and trade secrets.
  • Advise on corporate governance, board matters, and internal policies.
  • Assist with legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
  • Conduct legal training for internal teams on compliance and risk management.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the HVAC and manufacturing sectors.
