Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Buyer with a strong background in manufacturing to join their team. This role is responsible for placing routine orders with suppliers, managing inventory requests from warehouse teams, and ensuring all purchasing activities align with company needs and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of procurement processes, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with various departments.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience as a Buyer in manufacturing or a related field, with a focus on purchasing parts and materials.
  • Strong background in procurement for routine stock items in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with bulk purchasing and managing supplier relationships for high-volume orders.
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to secure favorable supplier terms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM/ERP systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Order Placement: Place orders with suppliers for routine, everyday stock items such as fire extinguishers, pipes, materials, and other necessary inventory items.
  • Ensure all orders are placed on time to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent production delays.
  • Inventory Management: Respond to inventory requests from warehouse teams, ensuring adequate stock levels to support manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory and leverage historical purchasing data to prevent overstock or shortages.
  • Supplier Relations & Negotiations: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable and cost-effective procurement.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, freight, and delivery locations to secure the best possible deals.
  • Follow up on orders to confirm delivery schedules and verify pricing accuracy, especially for bulk purchases.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze previous years’ purchasing data to identify trends and drive cost-effective supplier negotiations.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to obtain order approvals and participate in the bid process.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, sales, and customer service teams to align purchasing decisions with company goals.
  • Process & Compliance Management: Develop and maintain manual processes as necessary, ensuring all purchasing activities comply with company policies.
  • Utilize Salesforce and other relevant software tools to track orders, manage supplier data, and generate reports.
