About The Position

The Walmart eCommerce team is rapidly innovating to evolve and define the future state of shopping. As the world's largest retailer, we are on a mission to help people save money and live better. We are looking for a creative, passionate, Staff Data Scientist to join the Inkiru Data Science team at Walmart to combat fraud in the ecosystem. You will have the unique opportunity to work with massive business and social data generated by Walmart’s unparalleled online and offline commerce. About Team: Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

Requirements

Technical expertise in machine learning, deep learning, statistical analysis, Gen AI and software development.
Experience designing, building, and deploying machine learning solutions—including traditional models, deep learning architectures, transformer models, and reinforcement learning—at corporate or enterprise scale
Experience designing, developing, and deploying AI agents.
Proficient in data mining, machine learning, and deep learning packages in Python/Tensorflow/Keras.
Experience working with large data sets and cloud computing (Hive, Spark, GCP, or Azure).
Proficient in coding SQL, Python, Java, or JavaScript.
Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in any STEM field plus 6+ years of related experience.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
Good communication skills, ability to work with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical associates.
Experience providing technical and architectural guidance in a technical lead or architect role.
Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3: 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field

Nice To Haves

A proven track record of leading innovation such as Medium Blog, patents, or conference presentation is a plus.
Experience with GCP services like Vertex AI and Kubeflow are desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

Architect machine learning solutions given an abstract business problem.
Communicate the results to stakeholders and present the projects in internal or external conferences.
Perform hands-on data exploration, processing, and analysis on massive data sets.
Use state-of-the-art machine learning, deep learning, data mining, Gen AI techniques to develop models.
Design scalable, low-latency services to host predictive models; productionize prototypes on the cloud.
Research and develop advanced algorithms and techniques that address complex business problems.
Utilize the broad and deep knowledge of Machine Learning and Software Engineering to contribute to the team's core machine learning capabilities.
