About The Position

The Staff Engineer will perform the design of product and process activities in support of new product development and product line sustainment for Insulated Separable Connectors (Cable Accessories).  The team you will be a part of is currently working on several highly visible projects and has more in the pipeline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 6+ years of relevant experience with design and manufacture of Insulated Separable Connectors, load-break and dead-break.
  • Proficient in the use of 3D modelling software (Inventor/Solidworks etc..)
  • AutoCAD, Electro/Coulomb or other Electric Field Analysis software, Finite Element Analysis, and Inventor (3D experience preferred
  • Experience in testing procedures outlined in the applicable IEEE standards
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills
  • Solid understanding of project management methodology
  • Ability to develop detailed work plans, schedules and specifications
  • Ability to travel, up to 15%, on business related trips and attend meetings scheduled within various time zones
  • Ability to walk the manufacturing shop floor or lead lab test programs and lift 50 pounds as needed (part inspection, part fit check, product testing, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Primary focus is new product development for the Cable Accessories Business Unit, including load-break , dead-break and dead-front arrester products
  • Own the design content requirements including but not limited to 3D models and associated 2D drawings, technical specifications, Multiphysics simulations, tolerance stack up, DFMEA, DFMA, and Design Validation Plans and Reports (DVP&R)
  • Active participation and leadership in standards development as part of IEEE/PES/ICC
  • Provide  expert level technical assistance to Applications, Process, and Quality Engineering
  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge of processes and develop awareness of all current manufacturing processes
  • Interface with customers and provide technical assistance when required, develop familiarity with applicable industry standards, and increase understanding of utility practices
  • Collaborate with manufacturing on product design, tooling development, and manufacturing processes for assigned projects, and assist pilot runs and first article inspections
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions for deviations, PPIs, suggestions, variation orders, ECRs and drawing changes, and serve on Change Control Board as assigned
  • Develop proficiency in use of Inventor, AutoCad, and PDM drawing management system
  • Travel requirements involving off-site testing of products, marketing support, field review of product applications or training activities.
