Staff Nurse/RN
About The Position
The Center for Occupational Environmental Health Promotion, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a Staff RN to work in an outpatient clinic setting providing professional nursing services and patient care. This position will follow established nursing processes, including patient assessment, triage, nursing-level diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The incumbent will ensure adherence to Hospital, Department, and University policies and nursing procedures, standards, and practices. The Department of Internal Medicine is a large, progressive department with a diverse staff working in dedicated teams to provide quality work in an organized, effective, and efficient manner through innovation, training, and education. Requirements
- Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program; no previous experience required.
- Certification/Licensure State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- CPR Certification must be obtained within 2 weeks of date of hire.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
- IV Certification within 6 months of hire may be required for some positions in this classification, depending on the individual needs of the department
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Nice To Haves
- Experience performing off-site immunization and TST clinics
- Performing nursing services for US DOT/ FMCSA evaluations (including vision exams, UAs, audiology, etc)
- Experience performing spirometry exams
- Experience determining immune status for infectious diseases
- Administering vaccinations: MMR, Tdap, Hep B, Varicella, Influenza (and others on a case-by-case basis); and placing/reading TB skin tests
- Experience treating patients with body fluid exposures/needlesticks from high-risk donors
- Experience with workers' compensation and/or job-related injuries
- Bilingual - Fluent in English and Spanish
