About The Position

The Staff Nurse/Registered Nurse working for University Health Services provides physical and psychological care on a 10-bed inpatient unit as well as assessing/treating walk-in patients in an emergent/urgent care setting. The nurse will be responsible for: identifying patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons to understand patient needs and following the nursing process; evaluating patients seeking medical or emergency treatment/advice by performing a thorough nursing assessment, providing first-aid treatment and communicating findings to treating practitioners; communicating test/lab findings to treating practitioners. The nurse will be responsible for coordinating treatment by communicating with the multidisciplinary team, which includes but is not limited to, physicians, nurses, administration, counseling, BC Police Department, and emergency rooms; arranging for referrals, tests, transportation, and admissions; resolving patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies; and providing counseling regarding health care practices and prescribed medical treatment. In order to create a more inclusive community within the Division of Student Affairs, each staff member is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed. The schedule requires one evening shift (5-11pm) during the week and a rotating weekend schedule of three weekends on followed by one weekend off. Weekend shifts are 7-3pm or 3-11pm. Hiring Range: $41.79/hour to $52.23/hour Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with MA license.
  • At least three years of experience in an ambulatory, emergency or college health setting.
  • Electronic Medical Record experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working and communicating effectively with diverse populations and creating inclusive and belonging work environments.
  • Knowledge and experience in ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and best practices, as well as participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in coordinating health services and liaising with other health care professionals.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a university setting is preferred.
