About the position

With decades of experience creating and deploying real world systems for demanding environments, the Stack team is dedicated to developing an autonomous solution ecosystem tailored to the trucking industry's unique demands. The Mapping team is responsible for the infrastructure and pipelines that generate and serve the most critical prior required by autonomous vehicle operations: the HD Map. We leverage vector priors, onboard detection, and offboard data extraction aggregated across petabytes of AV log data to ensure our autonomy stack operates optimally. We manage the end-to-end systems that track map quality, issues, and fixes. If you are excited about spatial data or geometry, about the intersection of autonomy and safety, about moving quickly without breaking things, about incorporating AI and learning models into an industry-wide problem, and finally about owning and architecting the systems that will enable us to operate at the highest levels of safety - we want you onboard! As a staff full-stack engineer, you will own Mapping’s services - ranging from systems that enable vehicles to update maps on the fly to tooling for editing map data directly - as well as drive company-wide visualization solutions for geospatial data.
Responsibilities
- Design the architecture and own implementation of Mapping’s service ecosystem.
- Engage in requirements gathering across the company and with external partners to ensure services and frontend solve real problems, efficiently.
- Integrate tightly with our Operations team and external partners to drive a rapid and robust issue reporting to resolution loop.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive spatial visualization solutions for the company.
- Set a culture of engineering excellence within the team, working closely with management and customers to balance speed of delivery and quality of engineering artifacts.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Expert level of development skills in Typescript and React or related experience.
- Experience building end-to-end systems from database to frontend.
- Experience developing JavaScript + TypeScript applications, specifically with a focus mapping applications.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for understanding user needs and delivering effective visualization solutions.
