About The Position

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. In this role, you will deliver Block and File Storage for Google Distributed Cloud - the platform for GEMINI on-premises. You will work with large federal and other customers to onboard workloads and deliver cloud-like performance in their data centers. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience coding in Go, Java, Python, C, and C++.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
  • 5 years of experience with Distributed Storage.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience working in networking.
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking principles, managing and troubleshooting network configurations in production Kubernetes environments.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the overall technical charter for the team.
  • Understand customer deployments, use-cases and ensuring the architecture road map aligns well with their requirements.
  • Drive road map conversations with program manager and help prioritize the technical charter for the team.
  • Work with the team to ensure a sound development process and projects have well defined outcomes.
  • Mentor and grow engineers and build a good working relationship with the Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) leadership.
