We’re looking for a Staff Specialist – Commissioning to join our commissioning team and help ensure that building systems work exactly as they’re intended—efficiently, safely, and reliably. Commissioning is where design meets reality. In this role, you’ll be hands-on with real projects, learning how mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate in the field—not just on paper. You’ll work side-by-side with a Lead Commissioning Specialist, gaining experience, confidence, and technical depth with every project. If you’re curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn, this role gives you a strong foundation for a long-term career in building systems and commissioning.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field mechanical, electrical
  • 2+ years of experience in building systems design, construction, or commissioning
  • Foundational knowledge of building systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Comfort working both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders occasionally, and work in tight spaces
  • Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions
  • Willing to wear PPE and site-appropriate workwear

Responsibilities

  • Be part of the commissioning process
  • Support commissioning activities to verify building systems meet project requirements
  • Execute testing procedures and document results clearly and accurately
  • Track issues, maintain action logs, and help drive resolutions
  • Assist with commissioning reports that tell the full story of how systems perform
  • Support troubleshooting efforts when systems don’t perform as expected
  • Support construction administration
  • Review O&M manuals to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with contractor submittals and ensure alignment with construction documents
  • Prepare field observation reports noting progress and any deficiencies
  • Review Testing and Balancing (TAB) reports for compliance
  • Get out in the field
  • Travel locally—and occasionally out of town—to support active projects
  • Work on job sites in a variety of environments and conditions
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project teams
