About The Position

The Stand Alone Snubbing Operator 1 safely coordinates and oversees snubbing units at the well sites. The Operator 1 is expected to assist the Snubbing Supervisor in leading the work of crews at the well site and shop areas while demonstrating a personal commitment to safety. The Operator 1 is responsible for directing crew members while rigging up and rigging down of the snubbing unit, maintenance of snubbing unit, clean up and repair of support equipment, and preparation of equipment for the next job, based on the equipment needed and customer specifications, while routinely checking equipment for wear and tear that could be a hazard. Operators will provide mentorship to snubbing assistants and other members of the snubbing crew. This job may require up to 100% travel for production or completions work, and shifts that may be daylight or night hours, on rotation with days on and days off, which may vary by customer and location.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education.
  • Valid, active state-issued Driver License; CDL is a plus.
  • Minimum two (2) years snubbing and pressure control services experience; one (1) years of Operator experience.
  • Mobility, including entering confined spaces, enter areas by the use of ladders or other access devices up to 15 ft.; ability to bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl and walk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Work may be performed in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written; English preferred.
  • Ability to work in multiple locations and must be able to work a varied schedule and travel (50% - 100%) as job requires.
  • Basic math skills and problem solving skills.
  • Basic computer and writing skills.
  • Clearance of company hiring requirements and pre-employment drug and alcohol and job-relevant screens.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out instructions and assigned functions from the Snubbing Supervisor in the operation of the unit and ancillary equipment to ensure consistent production within company and customer operational safety standards and equipment specifications; ensure rig operates in a safe manner according to company policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for proper and safe operations of snubbing units and associated pressure control equipment (ex: Fluid Pump, Nitrogen Equipment).
  • Assists pre-job safety meeting ensuring that all hazards and risks are being recognized, communicated and addressed.
  • Conducts pre-check inspections and loading of equipment, rig up operations, snubbing service operation, and rig down operation per standard operating procedures (SOP) and job safety analysis (JSA).
  • Recognize when out-of-scope operations are encountered during routine tasks, STOP the task and conduct another hazard assessment. Determine a safe course of action and the control measures required to mitigate the out-of-scope conditions.
  • Coach and train crew members on recognition of hazards and safe operating procedures.
  • Ensure the site specific Emergency Response Plan is in place.
  • Conduct BOP drills and ensure workers recognize their roles and responsibilities.
  • Operate fluid pumps and perform fluid/volume calculations.
  • Clear the derrick and floor of non-essential personnel during critical lifts.
  • Participate in incident investigations, near miss reporting, hazard identification and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Complete CAT-1 inspections daily.
  • Complete CAT-2 inspections on every rig up.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
