About The Position

Under the direction of the Safety Department Manager, the State Safety Compliance Auditor is responsible for ensuring compliance in accordance with FMCSA regulations and company policies. Previous experience in transportation safety coordination is recommended.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in a compliance role
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and proof-reading skills
  • Must be able to work independently with proper time management skills
  • Must be able to compose an email using Outlook
  • Excellent writing & proof-reading skills as well as superior verbal, analytical, & organizational skills
  • Computer skills: Outlook, Excel, Word, AS400, Adobe, and other web-based systems
  • Requires strong interpersonal & communication skills, compliance, implementation, and auditing tasks
  • Goal oriented, self-managing with time & project consideration
  • Knowledge of standard DOT Compliance concepts, practices, & procedures
  • Work in a “Confidential Capacity”
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload
  • Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion and meet various and required deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, drivers, and managers
  • Knowledge of Data Q web-based application

Responsibilities

  • Maintain State specific regulatory compliance data in internal database, FCM
  • Retain and record maintenance receipts and records in compliance with FMCSA, State requirements, and company policy
  • Maintain specific state regulatory compliance requirements to include but not limited to Assembly Bill 5 (AB5), California Air Resources Board testing requirements, and California Basic Inspection of Terminal Program
  • Assist with coverage for other members of the team as needed
  • Assign, communicate, and follow up with independent contractors following any items needed regarding service questions or concerns
  • Communicate DOT Regulations and DOT interpretations in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and state specific requirements
  • Identify out of compliance vehicles and contractors and correct compliance deficiency
  • Drive proactive repair and maintenance of company owned and independent contractor vehicles
  • Communicate and cooperate with management staff and other department heads
  • Other duties as assigned
