A brighter future is possible with you . Job Summary Join a hands‑on engineering team driving real mission impact - an internship where you’ll solve problems, build tech, and grow fast. We are seeking a STEM Intern for Summer 2026 (May 18 – early Aug) to support converting historical technical information to electronic formats including scanning, data mining, data cleaning, and formatting for electronic database storage. The Metallic Materials Properties Development and Standardization (MMPDS) program has paper and electronic records in multiple unstructured formats documenting the program back to its beginning in 1937. This position is 100% onsite located in Columbus, Ohio . The application deadline is March 12, 2026. The Defense & Materials Solutions group is made up of engineers, designers, technicians, scientists and analysts contracted by the US Government to develop unique solutions to design challenges that often border on the impossible. The STEM Intern will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary teams that we form around each project.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Data Science.
  • Must be sole US citizen with ability to obtain government security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of material properties, chemistry, mechanical design
  • Basic programming skills including Python, AI, and machine learning.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team of experienced technical and nontechnical professionals.
  • Interest in aerospace industry or other failure critical industries

Responsibilities

  • Review paper documents and prepare them for scanning. Small files may be handled by this individual. Large files may be scanned by the internal print office.
  • Review electronic records and transfer various unstructured information into appropriate database templates.
  • Work closely with MMPDS Team to identify redundant information to reduce the current Archive footprint.
  • Recommend process improvements for future work.
  • Document any new processes.
