As a Sterile Processing Technician, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our surgical teams by ensuring all instruments and equipment are clean, sterile, and ready for use. From decontamination to assembly, you’ll follow strict protocols and standards to maintain patient safety and support high-quality surgical outcomes. You’ll also help maintain an organized inventory, assist with surgery suite turnover, and demonstrate a working knowledge of aseptic and sterile technique — all while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of living in Whitefish, MT.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous sterile processing experience with knowledge in decontamination, sterile packaging, and instrument assembly preferred. No experience? We will train you!
  • Certification: Current CPR Certification preferred. Current Sterile Processing Certification preferred. Completion of an accredited sterile processing course preferred.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to set priorities, work independently, and thrive in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn new systems.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates integrity, kindness, empathy, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate & Sterilize: Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments, scopes, and supplies in accordance with facility policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Assemble & Inspect: Prepare surgical trays, perform quality checks for cleanliness, sharpness, and function, and arrange for repairs when needed.
  • Manage Inventory: Restock trays, process instruments, and maintain code blue carts and surgical case carts. Monitor for outdated items and packaging integrity.
  • Support the Team: Assist in cleaning and turning over same-day surgery and operating suites, ensuring readiness for the next procedure.
  • Ensure Quality: Follow proper sterilization processes, perform daily quality control testing on sterilizers, and maintain accurate records of production and quality checks.
  • Collaborate: Communicate supply or instrument shortages and work closely with surgical and clinic teams to meet patient care needs.
