About The Position

The Medical Sterilization Technician is responsible for maintaining the sterilization of all medical equipment as well as patient rooms. Additionally, the Sterilization Tech is responsible for keeping patient rooms stocked of supplies and cleaning rooms between patients for the clinical care team. The Sterilization Tech is required to keep up-to-date with Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) compliance guidelines. All new hires will begin at the base wage of this position. Hmong and Spanish speakers who successfully pass a language exam will receive a minimum additional .75 hourly differential to their wage.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months to one year of experience in a similar role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance and operation of autoclave, incubator, and medical instruments.
  • Running control tests and monitoring control settings on autoclave and checking all wrapped instruments for expiration dates.
  • Cleans medication rooms, exam rooms, waiting rooms, restrooms, counter space in waiting room on a regular basis.
  • Performs stat precautions for contaminated areas.
  • Manages all medical materials as needed by the clinic.
  • Launders and folds patient gowns.
  • Empties trash and disposes of infectious waste and cardboard boxes.
  • Replaces sharps containers when full.
  • Changes cidex monthly and alcohol daily.
  • Reports broken equipment and fixtures to supervisor or Corporate Services.
  • Order and stock housekeeping and janitorial supplies.
  • Sets up for meetings including arranging tables, chairs, and food set-up.
  • Assists in supply ordering and receiving as needed.
  • Trains Medical Assistants and other back office staff in sterilization and autoclaving.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
