The Storekeeper receives, stores, issues, orders and records store items and hazardous materials in a warehouse. Essential Duties & Job Functions: Performs all the functions of receiving, storing, issuing, ordering, recording, and checking store items and hazardous materials in a store or warehouse where the flow of work requires one or more Storekeepers. Expedites the flow of supply of parts, tools, and material for a shop or subcontractor as well as coordinates supply action between departments or work sections. Receipts for material, arriving via commercial carriers, unloads, checks-in, and processes related documentation. Checks for damage and coordinates the resolution of discrepancies or may process claims for freight damage. May perform check-in and issue out of tools and equipment. Researches and identifies compatible/incompatible chemicals for correct storage and provides MSDS information. Determines the requirements for reshipping of material by providing for proper sizes of containers to be utilized. Performs duties associated with the consolidation, repackaging, labeling and transporting of material. Work includes driving of forklifts, high lifts, and vehicles of medium weight. Inputs data into computer data base systems. Prepares reports and tracks data as directed. Performs other related duties as assigned. May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.
