About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Strategic Communications Associate in Washington D.C. to join our program team supporting a prominent Department of Homeland Security official. With the goal of creating project understanding, as well as positive project perception, the position will require expert skill and experience in a variety of internal and external communication strategies. In this role, the candidate will support the DHS Liaison Officer and Strategic Communications Specialist with day-to-day communications and public relations activities and will partner with multiple stakeholders to ensure aligned program, internal, and stakeholder communications Solid writing skills, strong verbal communications, proficient editing, and detailed organization are a must. Working knowledge of basic graphic design is a strong plus.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, or Journalism (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of professional full-time experience
  • Experience with basic graphic design
  • Exemplary professional attitude and demonstrated ability to exercise excellent customer service and support, is required, as is the ability to interface effectively with a variety of people
  • Highly collaborative, dynamic individual focused on partnership and delivering unified success for the entire team, not the individual.
  • Exquisite attention to detail, an eye for creativity, and willingness to challenge the status quo.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the project, key issues, and potential stakeholders to support the overall strategic messaging program
  • Develop strategies and tactics to build project understanding, engagement and acceptance
  • Develop strategies and tactics to effectively and efficiently engage stakeholders
  • Prepare written content for use in project communications, including press releases, social media posts, websites, presentations, handouts and brochures
  • Design simple graphics to support communications and team needs
  • Support integrated communications campaigns that highlight Parsons’ solutions across the program
  • Develop and track metrics to measure the success of marketing and media relations efforts.
  • Constructs and executes mission-focused internal communications campaigns aligned with Agency priorities and leadership intent.
  • Conceptualizes, executes, and manages high-visibility workforce briefings and leadership engagements for DHS strengthening transparency and alignment.
  • Produces strategic written, digital, and multimedia communications—including articles, talking points, executive briefings, internal events and visual assets—to inform, engage, and mobilize a diverse internal workforce.
  • Advises on and supports internal social media–style engagement initiatives, refining messaging and audience targeting to increase awareness, participation, and sustained employee engagement.
  • Performs other related administrative and clerical duties as assigned to support the team.
