By leveraging leading scientific and commercial expertise across compliance carbon markets, carbon dioxide removal, and super pollutant mitigation, we work with over 50 organizations globally to achieve their climate and net-zero commitments, contributing to the reduction of more than $200M in estimated climate damages to date. Founded at the University of Chicago by Dr. Michael Greenstone, former Chief Economist for President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisors, Climate Vault Solutions is guided by an independent scientific committee (the “Technology Experts Chamber”) chaired by Dr. Ernest Moniz, former U.S. Secretary of Energy. The Technology Experts Chamber is composed of subject-matter experts with diverse experience across academia, government, and the private sector who set the rigorous standards by which Climate Vault Solutions evaluates and selects carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and super pollutant mitigation (SPM) projects to join its portfolio and meet our clients’ needs for high-integrity climate action. Building on our success, we are growing our commercial team with the addition of a Strategic Partnerships Manager focused on building enterprise relationships and closing complex, high-value engagements in support of our 2026 business development and climate impact goals. Climate Vault Solutions is seeking a senior business development leader with deep experience in corporate sustainability and carbon markets. Reporting to the Head of Strategic Development, the Strategic Partnerships Manager will be responsible for generating new business opportunities across Climate Vault Solutions’ three core offerings (compliance carbon market reductions, carbon removals, and super pollutant mitigation). In this role, you will take a client-first approach to understanding organizations’ sustainability objectives and constraints, providing guidance on how Climate Vault Solutions’ offerings align with established frameworks such as the Voluntary Carbon Markets Initiative (VCMI) and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). You will help clients navigate complex decision-making processes, translating technical climate and market considerations into clear, credible pathways to action, while ultimately owning the commercial process through to close. This is a remote work position and will be part of the commercial team, but will work closely with marketing, operations, and management to drive Climate Vault Solutions’ growth and climate impact objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of quota-carrying business development experience in an enterprise environment
  • Proven track record of closing high-value and complex deals with lengthy sales cycles
  • 5+ years of experience in the corporate sustainability, carbon markets, or climate change fields with a solid understanding of industry players, standards, and emission abatement pathways.
  • Comfort leveraging AI tools to continuously improve efficiency across research, pipeline management, outreach, and internal workflows.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including effective presentation and listening skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently without close oversight, but also function as a team player who will take initiative, and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRMs to manage complex commercial pipelines
  • Ability to adapt and be successful in a fluid, fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in science, sustainability, business, or economics preferred.

  • Environmental science or policy background is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Find Opportunities: Actively target and engage new enterprise-level accounts through strategic, thoughtful outreach and attending industry events to generate a qualified enterprise pipeline
  • Manage & Close Deals: Follow established commercial processes from discovery to close, nurturing complex high-value opportunities through long sales cycles.
  • Commercial Strategy: Continually refine how Climate Vault Solutions engages enterprise customers, from messaging and positioning to deal structure and stakeholder engagement in alignment with corporate sustainability frameworks.
  • Forecasting & Metrics: Maintain accurate, up-to-date activity records in CRM throughout the commercial process, and accurate pipeline visibility and forecasting for senior leadership.
  • Stay current with market and regulatory developments in the areas of climate change, carbon markets, and corporate sustainability to support informed, credible client conversations.
  • Stay current with the competitive landscape, new competitor entrants, market changes, and how to best present Climate Vault’s offerings.
