About The Position

The Strategic Initiatives Director will lead the development and cross-functional execution of high-priority growth “seeds” for the company. These are net-new strategic initiatives designed to unlock incremental revenue, expand our marketplace, deepen customer value, and accelerate long-term growth. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. You will frame opportunities, build business cases, align cross-functional stakeholders, and drive initiatives from early concept through incubation. Many initiatives will be marketing-adjacent, but inherently cross-functional in nature, requiring deep partnership across product, merchandising, supply, operations, finance, and executive leadership. This is a high-ownership role for a leader who understands our marketplace deeply, thrives in ambiguity, and can turn bold ideas into structured, measurable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10–12 years of experience in strategy, consulting, investment banking, private equity, or high-growth operating roles
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution
  • Strong financial acumen, including comfort with modeling, scenario planning, and ROI analysis
  • Deep understanding of marketplace dynamics, growth levers, and multi-sided platform economics
  • Exceptional ability to structure ambiguous problems into clear hypotheses and action plans
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in luxury, resale, e-commerce, or consumer marketplaces
  • Background in top-tier consulting or strategy functions preferred but not required
  • Experience launching or scaling new business lines, partnerships, or growth programs

Responsibilities

  • Identify and frame high-impact growth opportunities aligned to the company’s long-range plan and annual operating priorities
  • Conduct rigorous analysis including market sizing, competitive assessment, unit economics, CAC/LTV implications, and operational feasibility
  • Develop clear business cases and decision frameworks to guide executive alignment
  • Translate strategy into execution roadmaps, milestones, KPIs, and governance structures
  • Stand up and lead cross-functional initiative teams, ensuring clear ownership, timelines, and accountability
  • Drive initiatives from concept through pilot and scale, proactively identifying risks and unlocking blockers
  • Partner with Finance to model impact and track performance against revenue, margin, and contribution targets
  • Build executive-ready materials including narratives, board slides, and strategic memos
  • Monitor external market dynamics and emerging trends to inform where the company should place future growth bets
  • Serve as a connective tissue across functions to ensure alignment, clarity, and momentum on new strategic efforts
