About The Position

Trexquant is excited to offer an opportunity within the Strategy & Product Team for an Academic Partnerships Associate to help expand and execute our outreach efforts with leading STEM universities and professors. This role supports the Trexquant University Partnership Program, which connects professors and students with real-world quantitative research challenges. You will play a key role in building relationships with faculty and departments, coordinating research collaborations, and strengthening Trexquant’s early-career recruiting pipeline. A central focus of the position is engaging professors whose research has the potential to translate into practical, alpha-generating strategies. This is a high-visibility, growth-oriented role offering meaningful exposure to recruiting, research teams, and firm leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (STEM field strongly preferred)
  • 1–4 years of experience in recruiting, academic outreach, partnerships, research coordination, or related roles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with professors and technical stakeholders
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with strong follow-through and willingness to travel for campus visits and academic events as needed
  • Familiarity with academic research environments and experience organizing events, research initiatives, or partnership programs is preferred
  • Previous exposure to quantitative finance, data science, machine learning, or related technical fields is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identify and research target universities, STEM departments, and faculty whose work aligns with systematic trading, machine learning, data science, and signal development.
  • Support and coordinate faculty outreach initiatives, including research collaborations, alpha-generating strategy development, consulting engagements, and guest lectures.
  • Maintain organized tracking of professor engagement, communications, meetings, campus visits, and follow-ups.
  • Build structured pathways that enable professors to translate academic research into practical, alpha-generating applications where appropriate.
  • Coordinate professor consulting and research collaborations, manage documentation and dashboards, support faculty presentations and co-authored research opportunities, and ensure alignment with compliance, legal, and IP standards.
  • Strengthen Trexquant’s presence in academia by supporting career fairs, symposia, workshops, guest lectures, capstone sponsorships, competitions, and tailored outreach materials.
  • Partner with recruiting to build structured university pipelines, track referrals and competition participants, and measure engagement effectiveness and talent outcomes.
  • Collaborate with research and recruiting teams to identify academic areas aligned with firm strategy and evolving talent needs.

Benefits

  • Applications are open for both Stamford and New York City offices, the latter with a planned opening in October 2026.
  • The base salary for this role is $140,000 to $175,000, and will be determined based on the candidate’s educational background and professional experience.
  • Base salary is one component of Trexquant’s total compensation package, which may also include a discretionary, performance-based bonus.
  • This position is classified as overtime-exempt.
