The Strength & Conditioning Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and supervision of year-round strength, speed, power, and conditioning programs for Virginia Union University (VUU) varsity student-athletes. This position supports athletic performance, injury risk reduction, and overall student-athlete development while maintaining compliance with NCAA Division II, CIAA, and institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Athletic Training, or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strength training principles, conditioning methods, and injury prevention.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and supervise comprehensive strength, speed, agility, power, and conditioning programs for assigned varsity sports (off-season, pre-season, and in-season).
  • Align training programs with sport-specific demands and competitive calendars.
  • Provide instruction on proper lifting techniques, movement mechanics, and training safety.
  • Supervise all strength and conditioning sessions to ensure a safe and effective training environment.
  • Enforce facility rules, safety standards, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct physical performance testing, movement assessments, and strength evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate performance records and documentation.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and inventory of strength and conditioning equipment.
  • Adhere to all NCAA Division II, CIAA, and VUU policies and procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and required compliance education.
  • Assist with supervision of graduate assistants, interns, or student workers as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or designee.
  • Submit and implement 30-day plans aligned with departmental annual goals.
