Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
  • 3 years of experience in MedSurg, Emergency or Critical Care required
  • RN – Registered Nurse upon hire required and
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required and
  • NIHSS – National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification 60 Days required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • 3 years of experience in Critical Care experience preferred
  • SCRN – Stroke Certified Registered Nurse upon hire preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the linkage between strategic business lines and provision of an effective and efficient Stroke Program.
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical practice in care of stroke patients.
  • Review implementation of stroke order protocols and follows up as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Utilize current research and evidence-based standards of practice to develop, analyze and coordinate a comprehensive plan of patient education activities, including goals assessment, planning, implementation, needed resources and evaluation methods to support improved patient outcomes.
  • Collect date and assist in the implementation of practice changes as needed, participates in the analysis of data.
  • Coordinates and facilitates provision of educational opportunities for staff, physicians, patients, external providers of care including EMS, and the community.
