As a Structural Designer/EIT on our transportation team, you will be a part of Stantec’s dynamic group of over 500 bridge engineers who are responsible for expanding our bridge engineering and working on a wide variety of innovative and diverse projects.

Requirements

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
  • Some working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues.
  • Excellent organization, project management and communication skills both written and verbal along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in structural design.
  • Minimum of 0-5 years of professional experience in the design of bridges and structures.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) designation preferred or ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with California DOT and AASHTO LRFD codes a plus.
  • Microstation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with structural design is a plus.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous internship experience in bridge design, analysis or inspection a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design of bridges, walls, culverts, and sign structures incorporating California DOT practices and AASHTO LRFD standards
  • Assist with conducting engineering investigations, feasibility studies, cost, and risk analysis
  • Assist with assessing and identifying bridge load ratings
  • Use of advanced structural analysis/design software and 3D models
  • Assist with the completion of bridge construction plans and specifications
  • Assist with preparing structural computations, material quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates and helping in checking the work of others
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
