Coffman Engineers is seeking a Structural Engineer (five to ten years of experience) for employment in our Spokane office. Our primary marketplaces are Washington, Oregon, and Idaho with other potential opportunities across the United States. The successful candidate will be an independent, self-motivated, and energetic team player who is looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. In this role, you’ll perform and oversee structural analysis and design, coordinate with project stakeholders, manage schedules and budgets, oversee project drawing production in AutoCAD and Revit, implement new tools and methods, support construction coordination, and assist with proposals and business development. An ideal candidate would be looking to grow technically while working on complex projects with the support of our larger team, has interest in mentoring younger staff, wants to pursue new client relationships and gain exposure to project management.

Requirements

  • Experience with computer analysis software systems.
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable consulting to architectural and industrial practices.
  • Ability to build and maintain a strong team of professionals and support staff within a cooperative multidiscipline office performing at a high level of satisfaction to clients.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Design experience with various materials, including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and light gauge steel and their associated design standards.
  • Ability to design lateral and gravity systems of low-rise buildings and buildings with complex geometries.
  • Strong understanding of load paths and constructability.
  • Knowledge and experience with the International Building Code (IBC) and US design standards
  • B.S. degree in Civil or Structural engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with the structural design of buildings or similar structures.
  • Registration as a P.E. required.

Nice To Haves

  • Design experience with mass timber is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in structural engineering preferred.
  • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
