About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern to join our Holmdel, NJ team! You’ll gain hands-on experience working on a diverse range of civil, marine, and amusement design projects—from infrastructure and waterfront structures to complex, one-of-a-kind designs that challenge and inspire. Our Structural team is growing, and we’re looking for a forward-thinking intern who’s eager to learn, collaborate, and take on real engineering challenges. The selected candidate will work in the Bridges & Structures group of the Company’s Infrastructure Division on various projects including new or rehabilitated highway, rail and pedestrian bridges and culverts, retaining walls and temporary structures for contractors. Responsibilities will include the preparation of a variety of engineering analyses and computations, CAD drawings, technical reports and cost estimates under the supervision of senior engineers. In addition to the work-centered program, we also offer robust internship programming, which includes opportunities to work with other interns, learn about other areas of the business, and develop valuable communication skills and networking connections. Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related program.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the office.
  • Possess solid problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a high-paced environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, to include MS Office.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in Structural design preferred.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or Microstation preferred.
  • Experience with structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP, LARSA, etc.) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate as a member of the Bridges team to realize project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Put classroom lessons to work in a practical, real-world situation.
  • Occasional field work may be required under the supervision of senior engineers or managers.
  • Opportunities to experience and participate in the design of structural projects for other related Infrastructure Division departments including Rail, Waterway Structures and Hydropower.
