We are now taking applications/resumes for EXPERIENCED Ship Fitters for the Pierre Part, LA and surrounding area. Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following: MUST have experience with SHIP FITTING MUST have OSHA Experience with welding is preferred, but not necessary Must be able to pass 3G & 4G test Required Skills: Must be able to cut & wash with torch efficiently Excellent math skills with ability to efficiently read a tape measure Excellent problem solving skills Excellent communication skills Demonstrate strong work ethic Demonstrate consistency in quality of work Duties/Responsibilities: Ideal candidate will be laying out and fabricate metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within hull of ship for riveting or welding: Ideal candidate will be laying out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints/templates and using scribe and/or hand tools. Locates and marks reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines. Positions parts in hull of ship, assisted by RIGGER. Aligns parts in relation to each other, using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls. Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding or riveting. Installs packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips. May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts. May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding. May roll, bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts, using shop machinery, such as plate rolls, presses, bending brakes, and joggle machines. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks. Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments Ability to work in cramped and/or confined spaces when required Ability to work in an environments with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock Must be able to provide own PPE (hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, gloves.) MUST be able to DISA Hair Folicle & background check MUST have reliable transportation Pay: $TBD (Based on Experience) Weekly Pay Pay Schedule: Monday - Sunday Schedule: 10-12 Hour Days Monday - Friday Weekends (as needed) Duration of Job: Approximately 1 month, but would possibility of being placed in other projects based on job performance Tasks beyond those listed above will be asked of you, so a positive, can-do attitude is required.
