About The Position

ECS is offering an exciting opportunity for a Structural Project Associate to join our Flordia Building Science & Infastructure team in Miami, FL. In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience in field investigations, testing, reporting, and project support while working closely with senior staff. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality consulting solutions to a diverse range of facilities and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil (Structural) Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Architecture (NCARB)
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Certifications are required for all types of testing performed.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with staff members on a variety of projects and actively mentor junior staff to support overall development of the team.
  • Interface with clients on a regular basis and maintain and develop a client database.
  • Assist with project budgets by preparing change orders, invoices, and supporting collection efforts. Proactively communicate with the project team regarding testing or budget concerns.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and coordinate priorities with your supervisor as needed.
  • Possess strong technical writing skills with regard to spelling, grammar, and professional content/tone. Understand and use standard industry terms and effectively proofread written work.
  • Prepare building science & infrastructure reports, perform analysis, and provide recommendations for review by senior staff.
  • Initiate project setup and implementation with limited supervision and assist with managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare proposals and change orders and review deliverables prepared by subordinate staff prior to submission for senior and Principal review.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of sample collection (concrete, masonry, steel, wood) techniques and testing methods (anchor pull test, carbon fiber, bond test, GPR, sounding, half-cell, etc.).
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, laws, and guidelines for structural work and their implications on findings and conclusions in studies.
  • Direct field work including testing, structural assessments, and structural designs while ensuring the scope of work performed matches the scope proposed.
  • Perform or direct construction administration services (RFI responses, shop drawing review, budget updates, owner meetings, etc.), review project documentation prior to issuance, and communicate potential scope or budget changes to senior staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
