About The Position

Skillforce is currently searching for structural welders for a position in Houston, TX. The pay is $25/hr. Candidates will need to pass a weld test. The test will be a vertical up on test coupons and will be sent to the testing facility.

Requirements

• Candidate must be a certified welder, unless specified. Experience with vertical welding is a plus.
• All the welders must be AWS D1.1 qualified.
• Must be able to occasionally lift a maximum of 60 pounds or up to 100 pounds with a partner.
• Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Must be able to work in a variety of postures. May include flat welding, vertical welding, overhead welding, and positions that require reaching, bending and twisting.
• Must be able to wear a respirator when required.
• Must understand and speak English.
• Must have clean background for 5 years.
• High school education, GED or equivalent a minimum.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with vertical welding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welding and associated activities (grinding, painting, cutting, etc.) in a steel fabrication shop environment.
• Employees will be trained for correct quality checks, and must be able to self-perform visual quality check as instructed.
• Employee will trained in, and must follow all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Employee will be trained in safe use of shop equipment, such as grinders, shears, cranes, etc.
