Job Description:

Use advanced knowledge obtained through higher education to exercise independent judgment in developing and completing designs and contract documents. Design projects for all aspects of engineering for State, Municipal, and private projects for projects that involve structural engineering. Ability to function as a project engineer and understand all aspects of design and plan production. Duties may also include management and marketing. Preparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and project plans.

Works under Project Manager’s supervision; receives specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected. This position will require an individual that is willing to perform a variety of tasks while working independently and as part of a team. At times, assist the Project Team in technical meetings and correspondence with clients.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or a related field
• Holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
• Minimum of two (2) years of civil experience or related field 
• Ability to test and pass the Professional Engineer (PE) Civil exam or has passed the PE Civil exam
• Experience using AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Experience in using structural design and analysis software, including spreadsheet and finite element programs (L-Pile and RISA)
• Have experience and familiarity with structure design codes and guidelines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must
• Must have solid skills in the following areas: planning and scheduling; organization; problem-solving; and decision-making
• Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier

Nice To Haves

• Civil 3D and earthwork modeling experience is a plus.
• Experience with RISA or SAP2000 is a plus.
• Experience with design calculations, preparation of quantities and cost estimates, preparation of special provisions, and preparation of project plans is desired

Responsibilities

• Work on a team with other project engineers on the detailed design of projects
• Take responsibility for alignment and profile, geometrics, development of plans, special provisions, and construction estimates
• Create and submit design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and project plans.
• Must be self-motivated, technically proficient, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and be team-oriented.
• May be required to travel periodically within your location and neighboring states, depending on project needs.
• Must be physically capable of performing fieldwork.
• Perform other duties as needed
