About The Position

The Student Affairs Manager provides high-level administrative, financial, and logistical support for the Department of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies (TAPS), including the Department Chair, the Academic Department Manager (ADM), the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS), Director of Undergraduate Students (DUS), and all faculty members and staff. This position is the first point of contact for TAPS with faculty, students, University administration, prospective students and their parents, guest artists and adjunct/guest faculty. This position is the primary department liaison to the Registrar's Office and the Graduate School. With input from the DGS, this position manages all logistics of the TAPS graduate programs. Under faculty direction, this position also manages logistics of the undergraduate programs. Additionally, the position processes and tracks faculty and student reimbursements, manages the budget and ordering process for office supplies, supervises all departmental Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTAs), orders materials and equipment, and prepares financial reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of administrative experience, or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience preparing and editing correspondence and other documents.
  • Excellent computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) ,Google Suites (Docs, Sheets, and Forms), Workday and Zoom, with a proven ability to learn new programs as necessary.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform tasks with little supervision.
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple simultaneous priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an academic and/or arts administration environment preferred.
  • Experience in and understanding of the workings of a theatrical environment preferred.
  • Experience with budget management and financial record keeping is preferred.
  • Experience with GSIM, Slate, or similar platforms and creating databases preferred, or a willingness to learn.
