About The Position

The WGU Student Conduct Officer serves as investigator and adjudicator of reported violations of the code of student conduct. The Conduct Officer strives to balance the need for institutional security and integrity with student development and learning. This is achieved through the proper application of policy, due process, and the creation of meaningful educational sanctions for students found responsible for violations of the code

Requirements

• Moderate to advanced skill level with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor's Degree
• 4 years of relevant experience. For the purpose of this role, relevant experience includes student-facing roles such as student mentor or instructor; experience in student conduct or disciplinary functions; experience developing or implementing policy; and/or managing high-volume escalated issues, especially in student populations.

• 1 year of judicial affairs/student conduct adjudication experience.
• Broad knowledge of project management

Responsibilities

• Investigates and documents Code of Conduct referrals as needed, and adjudicates administrative hearings and determines sanctions as necessary, using an expert level of professional judgement and discretion.
• Reviews referrals to the Office of Student Conduct to determine if referral is warranted, and that case files contain all necessary information and investigation elements and ensures that due process is followed in administrative and board hearings.
• Prepares materials for student conduct hearings, notifies students in writing, and provides guidance on hearing procedures.
• Collaborates with partner departments throughout the University to inform and guide process and procedural development; provide relevant insights about trends, opportunities, and threats emerging from Conduct referrals.
• Works closely with the Senior Manager, Student Rights & Responsibilities and other conduct related areas in the University to identify areas of improvement in services or education that would help reduce the number of student conduct violations.
• Trains various groups within the University regarding the code of student conduct and the conduct referral process.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
