About The Position

The Student Financial Services (SFS) Support Coordinator at Maryville University provides essential coordination and frontline support for the SFS office and Federal Work Study (FWS) administration. This role oversees student employees, ensures excellent service delivery, manages daily operations, and serves as a key contact for students, families, and campus partners.

Requirements

  • Understanding of financial aid, student accounts, and student financial services operations.
  • Strong competencies in Microsoft Office Suite, document imaging tools, and business office software.
  • Experience in customer service or administrative support, ideally in higher education.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Knowledge of the interrelationship among enrollment management teams (financial aid, student accounts, academic records, admissions, student success, marketing).
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of equivalent professional/technical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Student Employee Management Recruit, hire, train, and mentor SFS student employees to deliver high-quality service. Develop and maintain training materials to support their success.
  • Scheduling and Coverage Develop, maintain, and update front desk and phone coverage schedules for student and staff employees. Manage on-campus coverage schedules for hybrid employees to ensure adequate in-person support and seamless office operations.
  • Frontline Support Provide direct support at the front desk, handle phone calls, manage cases, and assist walk-in students and families, including payment processing.
  • Inquiry and Case Management Ensure timely, professional, and effective responses to SFS inquiries and cases across all communication channels. Serve as the first-level responder for escalated inquiries requiring cross-functional collaboration. Create cases as needed for students requiring additional assistance.
  • Federal Work Study Administration Provide ongoing reporting to Human Resources regarding Federal Work Study eligible students. Reconcile FWS data with the Payroll Office monthly.
  • Funding Coordination Coordinate with Human Resources regarding Community Service funding requirements. Monitor expenditures of Federal Work Study funding and provide annual FWS earnings reporting for FISAP.
  • Financial Aid Award Updates Update Financial Aid Awards to add Work Study funds to eligible students. Communicate with Human Resources regarding FWS allocations, expenditures, and remaining funds. Reclassify student earnings based on funding expenditures.
  • Policy Compliance Stay current on federal, state, and institutional policies governing Student Financial Services.
  • Office Operations Review, sort, and process all incoming mail to the Student Financial Services & Academic Records office, ensuring documents are routed appropriately. Order supplies needed for day-to-day operations.
  • Additional Duties Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
