About The Position

As a Students and Young Adults Pastor, you are an integral member of the Fishers Students Ministry team. The Students and Young Adults Pastor is responsible for leading and developing a thriving ministry for students and young adults, creating environments where they can follow Jesus, grow in authentic community, and live out their faith. This role provides teaching, leadership, and discipleship opportunities that engage the next generation and connect them to the life of the church. As the Students and Young Adults Pastor, you will help deliver against our mission of “Connecting People to Jesus and Each Other”, as well as our three vision pillars to “Raise the Strongest Generation”, “Maximize and Multiply Jesus Followers”, and “Amplify Jesus Online and Globally”. Specifically, this role contributes to that in the following ways. Develop and grow a thriving young adult ministry that fosters engagement, discipleship, and leadership development Build and lead an effective student ministry that helps middle and high school students deepen their faith and community Equip and multiply leaders and volunteers to expand ministry impact across students and young adults The following job duties, collaborations, and personal growth objectives are critical to the success of this role. As in all roles, other duties may be necessary in order to deliver upon the key outcomes the role is responsible for. Have an effective outreach and follow-up process for the young adult ministry. Get a large percentage of the young adults in the church to engage with the young adults gathering. Lead and train the young adults leadership team at Fishers. Create and maintain effective systems for communication and operation of initiatives. Be on location & available for weekly services (Tuesdays and Sundays) for needs and/or assignments. Lead the 6-12th grade Middle & High School Ministry at Fishers Coordinate and lead weekly students and young adults gatherings and outreach events to build ministries at the Fishers location Primary communicator of God’s Word and will also work to develop a team of lay teachers and assist students in applying God’s word to their lives Plan and execute fun and meaningful community building programs and events where discipleship and relationships are the priority Be able to address difficult topics that youth are experiencing in today’s world with the support of the Worldview Team Assist in facilitating shared events between Connection Pointe locations Respond to emails and phone calls within 24 hours of being in the office. Manage the budget and all managerial duties with professionalism and appropriate urgency Perform related duties as assigned. Lead our young adult gathering that meets Tuesday night. Maintain an environment where young adults can find Christian community and friendships, and where they can be pushed to apply their faith to all areas of their current life circumstances. Preserve a safe place where questions are encouraged, and truth can be earnestly and honestly pursued. Plan monthly community building events. Build community engagement outside of the Tuesday night gathering. Plan and execute a few conferences or retreats throughout the year. Equip the young adults to be spiritual and professional leaders in their school and work environment. Give ministry away to the young adult leadership team and develop them to serve their peers in significant and useful ways. Lead the Sunday student ministry environment, creating a space where middle and high school students can build meaningful friendships, experience Christ-centered community, and be challenged to live out their faith in everyday life. Cultivate an atmosphere where students feel safe to ask questions, wrestle with faith, and grow in their understanding of Scripture and discipleship. Develop and equip student leaders and volunteers to shepherd students well and foster a culture of ownership and invitation. Plan key discipleship environments, gatherings, and events that help students take next steps in following Jesus. Encourage students to live out their faith in their schools, families, teams, and friend groups. Build connection beyond Sunday through relational presence, intentional follow-up, and collaboration with the broader student ministry team. Collaborate with the Central Student Pastor and broader student ministry team Partner with other Connection Pointe locations for shared events and initiatives Work alongside the Worldview Team and other ministry teams to address relevant student topics Consistently seek alignment with Connection Pointe mission, vision, culture, and direction Consistently seek personal and professional growth through prayer, study, and training opportunities Maintain a healthy work-life balance and prioritize self-care to avoid burnout and maintain effectiveness in ministry, including attending service regularly Stay current with trends in theology, church leadership, and community development, adapting strategies and approaches as needed

Requirements

  • BS or equivalent degree in ministry, leadership, discipleship, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of pastoral and/or discipleship experience in a church, ministry, or non-profit
  • Proficiency with communication tools and general ministry systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, relational, and team-building skills; ability to teach, recruit, and develop others
