About The Position

Evapco is seeking a Sub-Assembly Machinist/CNC Machinist who can operate mechanical equipment to fabricate and construct parts and sub-assemblies for use in the final building of unit assemblies for all Evapco cooling tower and condenser product lines.  Uses drawings and documentation to ensure the finished product's proper dimensions and tolerance levels. This position will also provide technician support for the department.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a machining environment
  • Basic understanding of metals and material properties
  • Use, read, and comprehend a tape measure and caliper to within 1/32” is required.
  • Basic nomenclature and practical use of hand tools are required.
  • Experience in using and programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines.
  • Ability to use precision tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to take accurate measurements.
  • Reading and understanding production specifications, engineering drawings, and BOM’s, is required.
  • Understanding and ability to create programs using CNC G Code.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of vocational training or experience as a machinist apprentice is preferred
  • Okuma Genos Programmable Lathe work experience or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings and sample parts to understand fabrication and tolerance requirements.
  • Plan the machine, fixturing, and tooling sequence to achieve the desired output.
  • Created and troubleshot programs for lathe and mill, including setting factors for speed, feed, and unique part geometry.
  • Select and specify tooling on a per-project basis.
  • Set up and change tooling as required.
  • Identify and load materials per requirements.
  • Conducted quality checks to ensure parts met specifications.
  • Perform daily maintenance and preventive maintenance on machines.
  • Troubleshoot machine problems as required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area on a daily basis.
  • Abide by all shop work rules and guidelines.
  • Participated in team and shop business problem-solving activities that included quality, safety, scrap reduction, and process improvements.
  • Attend related training courses as scheduled.
  • Follow all related written and oral work instructions.
  • Assist in other areas of the department as requested.
  • May perform other duties as assigned
