Location: This position is located in INDOT’s Fort Wayne subdistrict. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: Set priorities and ensure the most effective personnel, time, and equipment utilization for each task. Responsible for the coordination and response of INDOT personnel in emergency and snow and ice emergencies. Responsible for public safety coordination with State Police, County, and Municipal Officials during emergency and snow and ice emergencies. Responsible for planning, tracking, and meeting or exceeding operating budgets. Advise on methods, procedures, scheduling, and equipment available, as well as the purpose of the job and long and short-range programs that affect the work. Oversee the maintenance of all state and federal highways and bridges. Direct, plan, and schedule maintenance activities within the sub-district. Oversee staffing needs of the sub-district daily, including developing and analyzing sub-district schedules that establish priorities between units and reflect the district's priorities. Inspect and review work being performed, during and upon completion, for compliance with standards and specifications. Ensure the required equipment and materials are requisitioned. Responsible for submitting an annual work plan that identifies all road needs, including identifying larger projects and projecting material requirements and needs for rental equipment. Responsible for determining the necessary resource requirements based on the work plan submitted. Prepare written requests regarding future personnel needs of the sub-district. Oversee maintenance and security of sub-district buildings and grounds. Responsible for ensuring that all new employees are trained on all functions and safety. Participate in the review and resolution of employee complaints and the grievance process. Conduct annual job evaluations, counseling, and discipline of employees, and is responsible for the recommendation for hiring of all sub-district employees.
