About The Position

The Subcontractor Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, recruiting, qualifying, and onboarding subcontractors to support telecommunications construction projects. This role ensures the company maintains a strong, compliant, and high-performing subcontractor network to meet production goals across aerial, underground, fiber, and civil projects. This position requires travel to active and developing markets to build relationships, evaluate crews, and support field operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in subcontractor sourcing, vendor management, recruiting, or telecom construction operations.
  • Telecom construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of underground, aerial, and fiber construction processes.
  • Understanding of contractor compliance requirements (insurance, licensing, safety).
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience sourcing directional drill crews, splicing crews, and civil/underground subcontractors.
  • FTTH project exposure.
  • Multi-state subcontractor network development.
  • Prior experience negotiating subcontractor rates.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit, and develop qualified subcontractor crews for telecom construction projects (fiber, aerial, underground, drop bury, splicing, directional drilling).
  • Build and maintain a strong subcontractor pipeline across multiple markets.
  • Travel to project sites to meet subcontractors, evaluate capabilities, and assess equipment and production capacity.
  • Conduct subcontractor screenings including experience verification, equipment review, safety history, and insurance compliance.
  • Coordinate onboarding documentation including: Master Service Agreements (MSAs) Insurance certificates W-9s and compliance documentation
  • Support rate negotiations and scope-of-work discussions.
  • Partner with Construction and Project Management teams to forecast labor needs.
  • Track subcontractor performance metrics and address production or quality concerns.
  • Maintain an organized subcontractor database and reporting system.
  • Attend industry events, job fairs, and networking opportunities to expand subcontractor relationships.
