BAE Systems is one of the world's largest defense contractors and Fortune 500 Company, this intern will be working full time onsite at our Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, VA or our Holston Plant in Kingsport, TN for Relocation will be offered, and housing is not provided. As a Subcontracts Administrator Intern: Assist Subcontract Administrators with day-to-day subcontract administration activities across the subcontract lifecycle, including pre-award and post-award support. Support preparation and issuance of subcontract documentation, including RFQs/RFPs, bid packages, and required compliance forms. Assist with subcontract file maintenance, data entry, and document control to ensure accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness. Support subcontract closeout activities, including invoice verification, receipt of required closeout documentation, and coordination with internal stakeholders. Perform basic market research and supplier data analysis in support of sourcing and subcontracting activities. Assist with tracking deliverables, subcontract modifications, and administrative actions under supervision. Help resolve invoicing, payment status, and delivery-related administrative issues by coordinating with internal teams. Support continuous process improvement initiatives related to subcontract administration and compliance.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Contract Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and manage documentation accurately.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a structured, highly regulated environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information with discretion and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of two (2) or more years of college coursework in a relevant discipline.
  • Prior internship, coursework, or exposure related to government contracting, procurement, supply chain, or business operations.
  • Familiarity with basic contract or subcontract concepts.
  • General awareness of FAR/DFARS or interest in learning federal acquisition regulations.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, or process documentation.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and presentation skills.
