Please note: Regardless of the hours of the position, the selected candidate will have to be available to complete 2 weeks of training, Monday-Friday during the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm, upon hire. Overview: Assesses, plans, develops, coordinates and provides treatment, rehabilitation and support services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Provides crisis intervention. Prepares and maintains client records.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree with a major in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related human services field.
  • Three years of related professional experience, with training and experience in assessment and treatment of persons with substance use disorders.
  • Professional experience working with persons with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI).
  • Must possess current, valid driver’s license and maintain Apalachee Designated Auto Driver status.

Responsibilities

  • Provides substance use disorder services to eligible persons served by the program in the form of direct individual and group therapy.
  • Be the primary resource for the team in completing substance use assessments of persons served and provide input into treatment planning and service provisions.
  • Provide multiple-stage individual and group treatment in the office and in community settings to develop a trusting relationship with persons served so that they may more freely discuss substance use and its effect on mental and physical health and daily functioning.
  • May participate in setting treatment goals and plans with persons served to reduce or abstain from substance use and to learn replacement behaviors.
  • Provide direct clinical services to persons served on an individual and/or group basis to teach behavioral symptom-management techniques to alleviate and manage symptoms not reduced with medication; provide symptom education to enable persons served to identify their mental illness symptoms; and to promote personal growth and development by assisting persons served to adapt to and cope with internal and external stresses.
  • Attend program staffing and periodic clinical/administrative supervision as scheduled.
