About The Position

SUMMARY OF PRIMARY FUNCTION The CDA Coordinator is responsible for enrolling, mentoring, supporting and monitoring early childhood staff and Head Start parents in obtaining and maintaining their Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials. This role involves providing guidance, training, and resources to ensure participants meet the standards set by the Council for Professional Recognition. The CDA Coordinator assists service locations in marketing CDA opportunities, and is the Champion for the CDA Grow Your Own Program within Tri-Valley Head Start. Helps recruit potential parents by providing information to them about the various program services and benefits offered to enrolled children and families. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Systems and Services Represents Tri-Valleys Grow Your Own initiative within our Head Start program, to our parents and the community to help market open positions and opportunities. Leads the program’s “Grow Your Own” Child Development Associate (CDA) efforts. Develops an effective system for CDA completion, documentation, training, and reporting. Collaborates with the Education & Disability Services team in supporting and assisting CDA participants to completion of the program. Leads the creation, planning, coordination and evaluation of professional development goals, providing guidance and support to participants CDA completion. Meets deadlines and fulfills responsibilities according to timelines set for individual participant plans. Monitoring and Evaluation Monitor, collect, and enter necessary data on the CDA Spreadsheet, ensuring data is current, complete, and accurate. Observes, monitors, and documents compliance with standards set by the Council for Professional Recognition. Meet with participants minimally monthly to ensure continual participant progress toward professional development goals. Evaluates CDA participants progress often, identifying the need for early intervention and additional support as applicable leading to participants success. Communication Utilizes effective communication and collaboration skills with participants; building trust, demonstrating confidentiality, careful listening, and providing clear expectations. Facilitates effective communication, problem solving, planning, cooperation, and follow-through. Supports participants in finding solutions when encountering challenges, supporting strategies and offering suggestions for remedying the situation in a timely manner. Models effective approaches and encourages positive change through reflective practice in a supportive and respectful environment. Provide ongoing communication between the participant, Coach, Center Manager, Education Supervisor, and any other relevant staff. Participant Training & Professional Development Reviews and approves CDA Professional Development Scholarship Applications. Enter applications into ChildPlus. Utilize the SharePoint CDA Spreadsheet to track specifics of participants plan including but not limited to payments, plan specifics, completion dates, and current status within process. Assists CDA participants with enrollment into the CCEI program, and provides training on how to use the platform. Develops individual training plan, and ensures participants understand their expectations of meeting deadlines, and participation in scheduled check in meetings. Utilize email to check in on participants monthly regarding status of portfolio completion, and support as needed. Conduct final portfolio review onsite, schedule participants test and coordinate observation. Identifies and utilizes appropriate resources to enhance the quality of professional development for recipients, providing information, resources and materials to participants as needed. Provides individual feedback, modeling and coaching toward the goal of effective performance. Safety Have or obtain within 90 days of hire a First Aid and CPR Certification,as well as maintain the certification during employment.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or two years equivalent experience in Education or Early Childhood related field.
  • CDA Professional Development Specialist credential, or ability to obtain immediately upon hire.
  • Comfortable working with computers, willing and able to learn specific systems as needed for position.
  • Must be able to schedule, travel in personal vehicle, and conduct participants visits during normal operating hours of Tri-Valley Head Start center programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Proof of valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance coverage.
