About The Position

Location: La Pine, Bend, Redmond, Prineville NeighborImpact’s Head Start Overview NeighborImpact’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide free, high-quality early childhood education and family support to low-income families in Central Oregon. Head Start serves children ages 3 to 5 in classroom settings, while Early Head Start supports pregnant women and children under age three through home visits and center-based care. Both programs are dedicated to promoting school readiness, healthy development, and social competence, ensuring families receive the critical resources and support needed during their child’s formative years. Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Head Start Substitute Center Aide is an on-call position supporting the center team in creating a high-quality environment by integrating program services within the classroom. This role involves working with children in Early Head Start classrooms, serving children 2-3 years old, and in our Head Start preschool classrooms, serving children 3-5 years old, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs required. This position is rated as active and occasionally requires the individual to lift 50 pounds
  • Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider) so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
  • Food Handler’s Card Required prior to date of hire and throughout employment
  • Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division Criminal Background Registry (CBR)
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is required
  • Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with children in any age range birth through five years preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Head Start parent or past parent preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and serving meals
