Substitute Nurse - Preschool Setting Part-Time/PRN We are looking for a substitute Nurse to work at our inclusive preschool in West Chester. Provide direct medical/nursing treatment to all classroom-based children and function as a member of a child’s home-based multidisciplinary team. Responsible for maintaining and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements and agency policies/procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and current PA state license (RN).
  • Two years Pediatrics experience required
  • Ability to complete all record checks (drivers and background), clearances, drug screening, health tests and vaccinations as required.
  • Provide required driver credentials and valid vehicle information before hire and ongoing prior to their expiration.
  • Current PA R.N. License
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and writing skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, to set priorities and follow through on details.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Candidates with special education and/or early childhood education experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate, collaborate and/or implement The Arc of Chester County’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
  • Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
  • Provide direct nursing support to classroom-based children.
  • Provide nursing support to home- based families as described in IFSPs.
  • Administer specified medication per prescription from the physician. Notes time and amount on appropriate medicine sheet.
  • Administer/perform treatments as prescribed by physician (i.e., nebulizer treatments, 02, tube feeding, catheterization, blood sugar testing).
  • Monitor nutritional intake of children.
  • Assist and consult with teaching staff in the feeding of high-risk children.
  • Implement health policies as pertains to children and staff. Maintains individual health records for children and staff, ensuring up-to-date status for physical exams and immunizations.
  • Maintain first aid boxes both in classrooms and on vans.
  • Assure compliance with all Health Department, Department of Education, DHS regulations and contract requirements.
  • Develop procedures for quality record keeping and maintain records in compliance with all requirements and best practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate documentation of internal compliance checks/drills for monitoring and addressing health and safety of participants and the facility (i.e. car seats, bleach, food, bathrooms, refrigerators, water temperature, fire drills)
  • Educate/train staff in the areas of universal precautions, prevention of blood borne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and other pertinent health and safety topics/trainings.
  • Assist preschool staff and children during field trips.
  • Participate in the agency Safety Committee.
  • Participant in Arc sponsored events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
