About The Position

The primary purpose of the Afterschool Program (ASP) Substitute Site Assistant is to provide direct service to the participants and perform administrative and operational tasks as assigned by the Program Manager on an as needed on-call basis. As an ASP Substitute Site Assistant, you have an opportunity to be a role model for children and to help create a safe, enriching and fun environment for children to grow. You will work as a substitute team member, supervising and interacting with children in a drop-in setting, as well as supporting the creation and implementation of curriculum and activities. The ASP Substitute Site Assistant position will also perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND passed SFUSD District Instructional Aide Exam; OR High school diploma or equivalent AND passed CBEST; OR High school diploma or equivalent AND 48 college units (official transcripts required); OR Associate's degree or higher.
  • Experience with facilitating or leading age-appropriate activities
  • Strong organization skills and ability to write
  • Strong communicator
  • Requires a valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Must complete a full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index) after conditional offer is made.
  • Must have TB clearance
  • Must complete and maintain current California Mandated Reporter Training certification, in compliance with California state law.

Responsibilities

  • As needed on-call position.  Employee will be contacted with as much notice as possible but day-of/day before requests.
  • Be actively engaged with children in the program
  • Provide direct service and support to the children, as assigned daily by Program Manager
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of youth activities and curriculum
  • Maintain a clean, fun and engaging environment while on duty
  • Uphold and enforce all safety policies and procedures
  • Perform daily administrative and operating tasks as assigned by the Program Manager
  • Participate in quarterly training summits
  • Maintain a predetermined work schedule, and be on time for your shifts
  • No personal phone use while at the program to ensure that student safety and engagement are the priority.
  • Chaperone on field trips as needed
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be responsible and on-time for scheduled work shifts
  • Other job-related duties as assigned
