Requirements

  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of professional experience working with children in a group setting, like childcare, camp, or educational setting, is preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, punctual, and reliable.
  • C.O.R.I. and S.O.R.I. Check Required
  • BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in or completion of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Support & Daily Operations Provide reliable, temporary coverage in assigned infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms.
  • Assist the teacher in the maintenance of the child care program, taking initiative and being flexible to support the growth and development of the children.
  • Assist the teacher with implementing daily activities, including circle time, story time, and classroom projects/activities.
  • Direct Childcare & Supervision Provide assistance during mealtime routines.
  • Provide attentive and nurturing care to children, ensuring their safety, emotional well-being, and engagement at all times.
  • Follow all established routines, schedules, and lesson plans to ensure program consistency and a smooth transition for children.
  • Compliance & Communication Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment in accordance with all health and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with permanent staff regarding classroom activities, child needs, and any notable incidents at the end of each assignment.
  • Uphold all policies and procedures of BCYF, the Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC), and the City of Boston.
  • Perform other duties as required.
